How to get NBI clearance online – Step by Step

The first and foremost step to apply for an Online NBI Clearance is to obtain an appointment. If you are only applying for NBI clearance renewal online, you don’t need an appointment.

So here are a few detailed steps if you are applying for an NBI clearance document for the first time. Ensure that you have all the NBI clearance requirements.

Step 1: Register yourself

If you are a new applicant or have not registered since 2014, start by creating an account on the NBI portal.

First-time job seekers applying for the free clearance should sign up through the special portal at firsttimejobseekers.nbi.gov.ph

Note: Before visiting the NBI portal, make sure to follow all the steps below carefully to ensure your appointment is booked correctly.

However, if you are here for a renewal, enter your expired online NBI clearance number.

Fill the registration form with accurate details. Ensure that you are meeting all the NBI clearance requirements. Accept the “Terms of Service” and click sign up.

Step 2: One-Time Password (OTP) Verification

To verify that you have provided a correct email or contact number, the automated system will send you an OTP to that number. Enter the OTP before it expires. The approximate expiry of OTP is 5 minutes.

After you are done with the verification, the system takes you to an online Application form. Fill out all required details, especially those marked with an asterisk (*). Fill the form carefully; you have the option to edit your provided details. Once you are satisfied with the form details, click on “Apply for Clearance”.

The NBI Clearance Application requires your Full Name (First, Middle, Last, Suffix if any), Birthdate and Birthplace, Citizenship, Civil Status, Complete Address, Contact Number, Educational Attainment, employment Information (if applicable)

Step 4: Select Valid ID

From a list of Valid government IDs that the NBI website approves of, select two IDs that you have. Upload them to the website. A list of valid government IDs includes your passport, driving license, National ID (Digital), PRC IDs, UMIDs, Voter's ID, PRC Card, PhilHealth ID, and TIN ID.

Step 5: Schedule Your Appointment

After successfully filling in your details and uploading your valid IDs on the portal, you can now choose an appointment because your physical presence for verification is a must. So, 

  • Select your nearest NBI branch.
  • Select an appointment date and time. The calendar given has available date and time slots marked in Blue. Blank slots in the calendar refers to fully booked slots or Weekends.
  • NBI offices are generally closed on Weekends. Choose any day from Monday to Friday.

Additional Tips

  • Avoid Monday and Friday as these are the busiest days
  • Book your appointment 1-2 weeks prior to secure a convenient time slot and branch.
  • Midweek (Tuesday to Thursday) morning slots should be preferred.

Step 6: Payment

Pay for the clearance fee, which is ₱120 to ₱170. You can easily pay it through the GCash, Maya, banks, e-wallets, Bayad Centre, or 7-Eleven.

After choosing a payment method on the NBI website, the system will generate your Reference Number. When you’ve paid for it, download the receipt or the reference number and keep it to yourself. You’ll need it later.

Step 7: Personal Appearance at the NBI Clearance Centre

When it’s the appointment date, head over to the selected NBI branch and bring your valid ID and the payment slip with you.

Wear proper clothing as they’ll take your photo. Wash your hands thoroughly, as they’ll take your fingerprints and signature as well.

Step 8: At the NBI Clearance centre

Renewing NBI clearance is easy and requires fewer steps than applying for it from scratch. This is a detailed response to the common user query “How to renewal NBI clearance?”

Go to the NBI website for renewal.

Visit the official NBI website. Only NBI Clearances issued 2016 or later can be renewed online. If your old ID is older than 2016, you must apply as a new applicant.

Create or login to your NBI account.

Enter your old NBI ID or reference number.
